Smart Sgurr Doggies
« Reply #497 on: August 17, 2018, 05:47:14 AM »
On a recent post somebody wrote that Sgurr doggies are very smart. Yes indeed, and sometimes a bit too smart for their fury breeches, at least ours. - Tidy 😉 Breagha always picks up wharever she finds on the floor (bits of papers, pens dropped, etc.) and brings these trophies to us where she is  rewarded. If she can't find anything, she sometimes pulls a kitchen towel from its rail and brings it proudly to us, reward guaranteed.
Yesterday she picked up an empty porcelaine teacup that somebody had put down next to the sofa. She gingerly carried it successfully into the kitchen where she wanted to give it to Martin and claim her due. About 10 cm before reaching her goal, the cup slipped from her teeth and banged onto the kitchen tiles. This scared her only mildly, important was that she still got a delicious treat. - Lucky us, as we have a saying that shards bring you luck.
We just love her.

Today is our Breagha's 6th Birthday
Happy Birthday to You, Our Most Beloved Import from Skye.

We cannot believe how "it" all started ! Around this time in 2013 we received an email from Enid that her Breagha had just given birth to her puppies and if we were still interested .......   Were we ever !
To celebrate our Breagha's anniversary, we have re-read all our posts on this forum and can hardly believe the bounty she has given us in all these years:  the boundless joy, her craziness, her (dis)obdience, our fear when she had her horrible accident at the age of 14 weeks, the happiness and excitement in our daily life, the gorgeous experiences on our trips with her to her homeland, etc., etc.
True, she cannot live the life of a gundog (and we are assured she would have become a great hunting companion), but we think she is happy (and spoilt) as our familiy dog.
We love you, Breagha.  Enjoy your birthday present  -  the best of Scottish salmon.  Martin, Ruth
